Become a Hospitality Partner If your organization runs on the following principles too, we would love to get to know you and brainstorm exciting ways we can work together in bringing life-changing experiences to our guests: You are Servant Minded You Offer Outstanding Customer Service You Offer a Great Value You are Operationally Excellent Your Guests Leave Feeling Like Family Your Guests Leave Feeling More Connected to Each Other and Your Community We are looking for hospitality partners that share our values and vision. Hotels: In general, upper midscale hotels suit our tours well, but we work with various types of hotels based on our group’s needs and price points. The typical SerVacation hotel acts as a central hub for our multi-day tours, thus it is preferable for it to be geographically central and relatively close to the airport. We seek a hotel that offers popular and stereotypical surroundings of that community. Restaurants: Our multi-day tours typically include lunch and select dinners, with optional add-on dinners so that guests can choose to socialize with their new fellow guests or go explore on their own. All of our restaurants highlight cuisine that is characteristic of that city, or authentic ethnic cuisines specific to the neighborhood we are visiting that day. Menus are often set or pay-as-you-go. We prefer private rooms or cordoned-off areas of the dining room. Catering: On our single-day trips, we sometimes hire catering for picnics or memorable experiences where we want to be on-site at a particular attraction or volunteer experience. Our menus again attempt to match the tour theme or the flavors of the neighborhood. Attractions/Step-On Guides: We are always eager to discover new attractions, museums, theme parks, and experiences that our guests can enjoy. We also utilize the services of step-on guides to leverage their specific expertise and knowledge about the neighborhoods we are visiting. If you offer a unique perspective on your neighborhood, we’d like to meet you. Transportation: We partner with transportation companies including buses, trains, trolleys, and boats. Our groups vary in size from 2-50 people and transportation needs range from a one-way drop-off to multi-day, so we would look forward to hearing from you and learning about your fleet and capabilities. Events/Concerts/Fundraisers: If you or your organization is having a special event, concert, or fundraiser that you think may nicely be incorporated in a SerVacation, we’d look forward to brainstorming with you! Also, if you have a particular charity that your organization supports and you think a SerVacation may be a good fit to raise money for them, please let us know. Ready to Begin? Become a Nonprofit Partner Are You Charity Looking for Support? One of our goals through SerVacations, is to use our platform in tourism and travel to serve the local communities wherever our groups are visiting, by assisting that community’s nonprofits. We can help you and your team by providing volunteers, community awareness, and financial support. Our mission to provide a vacation experience that combines the purpose-driven joy of serving others, with the rejuvenating benefits of a vacation, depends on partnerships with local charities, ministries, and nonprofits. We look forward to getting to know your mission and your organization’s needs. How Does SerVacations Partner With Nonprofits? SerVacations offers a unique tour itinerary that usually includes serving in a volunteer capacity at a local charity in the neighborhood that we are exploring that day. It’s a great opportunity for our guests to truly connect with the communities they are visiting — to see both the bright side and the very real needs that exist. Our guests love to help. They look forward to learning about your mission & dreams for the community, and they want to be engaged. Our hope is that when our guests return home, they will bring with them a love for your charity and become great cheerleaders to spread the word about you beyond your city. Don’t currently have any volunteer needs? We also have another opportunity to partner with SerVacations called “Love Our Neighbor” where we host an exciting single-day excursion in honor of your charity. Many nonprofits use it as an opportunity to invite supporters and clients to bring their whole family and celebrate the mission of their organization while having a fun daycation. A portion of the proceeds will benefit your nonprofit, and we can even open tickets to the public to share your message with guests from out of town who are excited that their tour will benefit a great cause! 1. Volunteer Tour Partner Welcome our guests as volunteers in your facility, usually in the morning. Offer a quick tour of your facilities along with a presentation to share your mission, current needs, and how they can support you in the future. Guests return home as advocates for your cause, having built a meaningful connection through hands-on service with a charity that is making a real impact in the community. 2. “Love Our Neighbor” Tour Partner Your charity is the featured charity for a single-day tour and receives a portion of the proceeds. Invite supporters and clients to attend. We take care of all registration and keep you updated every step of the way. Our guests look forward to hearing you present your mission, your needs, and how they can help in the future. If the group size reaches 30 guests, we will extend two complimentary tickets, which many charities use to invite a guest of honor such as a foster family, veteran, cancer survivor, or other beneficiaries of their services. What Are the Benefits? 1. Grow awareness of your mission Are you interested in growing your audience beyond your community and also reaching locals that may have not previously heard about you. Our guests are service-minded individuals, families, and companies from all over the world, and also active locals seeking to learn something new and make a positive impact in their community. 2. A steady flow of volunteers ready to help If you have regularly scheduled volunteer needs at the same time each week, our multi-day tours are a great fit. We can plan to visit your neighborhood on a particular day and work with you to find a plan that optimally meets your organization’s needs. 3. Be Sponsored Through Our Single-Day Vacation Experiences Serving doesn’t stop at volunteering. We want to be of assistance to area nonprofits who maybe don’t currently have any volunteer needs. Instead, on some of our single-day tours, our guests can show kindness to some of your clients and celebrate the work your organization does, all while raising money for you to continue doing great work. Ready to Begin? Call 813-498-2229 or email fred.carlson@servacations.com

Become a Tour Director Partner Calling All Tour Directors Are you an experienced tour director looking for a way to fill gaps in your schedule by hosting tours in your local city? Do you have a heart for serving others, enjoy meeting the needs of non-profits in your community, and love welcoming guests to your hometown and state? Right now, we are growing our single-day and long weekend tours across Florida. We also are beginning to work with tour directors in specific other states so that our tribe of service-minded travelers can begin to experience single-day SerVacations in other regions of the country. If you have an interest in developing a tour with us that you can lead, we would love to chat. Food for Thought: These are some tour themes that resonate with our community: Meeting the Needs of the Marginalized Christian Ministry Arts & Culture History Ecology & Conservation Pets, Zoological, Aquatic Life Veterans and First Responders Widows, Orphans, and Single Mothers Sports, Youth Leadership Development We are interested in developing a general SerVacation itinerary in each community or region that contains a variety of attractions, tours, and volunteer opportunities from these themes that can appeal to families and groups of all ages. In addition, if a city or region lends itself to a particular theme, we’d love to explore that with you. Ready to Begin? Call 813-498-2229 or email fred.carlson@servacations.com

Our Mission and Core Values

Our Mission: SerVacations equips families, individuals, and groups of all ages to serve others while enjoying an intimate and life-changing vacation that leaves guests feeling more connected to one another and truly connected to the community they visit. Core Values: Operationally Excellent We seek to make serving and vacationing with us from start to finish an easy and pleasurable experience. Family Atmosphere Our guests will be treated like family throughout their SerVacation and will be members of our family when it is complete. Gospel-Centered We will be a conduit for Christ in the communities we have trips in, loving our neighbors without discrimination. Servant Minded We serve others first just as Jesus did, and are happy to be the least so God can be the Most. We are stewards of the journey that He has our guests on. Generous We want to inspire our guests and team members to live generously, and we look forward to giving back to the ministries we serve.

What is a SerVacation tour experience?

A SerVacation™ tour experience is a single or multi-day tour that includes volunteer service opportunities at local charities in the morning, then an authentic lunch featuring tastes of the culture of the neighborhood that you are exploring that day, followed by visits to major attractions in that area and even a few hidden gems — all with professional and often native guides who will make you feel connected with the neighborhoods that you are visiting. We’ve been there! Going on a vacation/get-away experience – hoping that it provides the needed emotional, physical, and spiritual deposit that we can take back with us once we return to our normal routines. Oftentimes we’re left wondering, “Was that it? Did that really help? Do I feel closer to my family/to others/to God?” A SerVacation tour experience is customized to help individuals, families, churches, and businesses who want unique volunteer vacation experiences that offer more than just leisure. Reconnect with yourself, your family, & your faith. One of the most important aspects of a SerVacation is reconnection. In our day-to-day life, we oftentimes miss opportunities to appreciate the small things… to listen to others’ stories… to spend quality time with our loved ones… to be still, and meditate on the goodness of God. Let us help your family, group, or company unwind, volunteer, and reconnect today; chat with us and let us help you Make Memories that Matter!

Why We Serve

Start your journey today

Our why

At SerVacations, we recognize that people are at different places in their journey of faith. It is because of our founders’ Christian faith, believing in the lordship of Jesus Christ that we started SerVacations. Jesus said He did not come to be served, but to serve others. We aspire to that and seek to think of our guests' and employees’ needs first. We want to make a positive impact on the places that we visit and volunteer. We believe that vacation is not just a mental and physical escape, but that it can be utilized as a time to draw closer to our Creator, family, and those in need. It’s our hope that everyone experiencing our vacations, retreats, and single-day excursions is drawn closer to the Lord in their own way through that journey. We believe that God can take something ordinary like travel and make it extraordinary!

OUR Story

Fred & Marie Carlson are passionate about service and travel. Prior to starting SerVacations, they were often looking for ways to incorporate volunteering into their family vacation plans and found it challenging. They could take a mission trip and leave the kids at home. Or they could stay at home with the kids and volunteer during their time off, sacrificing the valuable vacation that they wanted to use to explore new places with the kids. They found it quite challenging to research and schedule volunteer opportunities while also planning an incredible vacation, and no domestic tour operating companies offered a combination of both in safe, educational, and fun places. God gave Fred a vision for community-based trips where Volunteering and Vacation Unite! Marie is a Certified Activities Professional and has over 12 years of experience as an Activities Director in upscale senior living, leading tours and excursions for independent living guests throughout the Tampa Bay area and beyond. She has a passion for building relationships with activities and attractions vendors and exceeding her guests’ customer experience expectations. Prior to that, she was a retail store manager and a youth minister, leading Christian education and youth activities, youth tours, vacation bible school, and mission trips. Fred "got out" of Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in Civil Engineering and an MBA in Real Estate & Finance, has served on the Georgia Tech Alumni Association Board of Trustees, and is a past president of the Georgia Tech Suncoast Alumni Network. He currently serves on the Advisory Board for the Salvation Army's Tampa Area Command and Georgia Tech's Civil Engineering Advisory Board. Fred and Marie are active in their church and only by the rescuing power of the gospel of Jesus Christ, hope to let their light shine before others, and glorify their Father in heaven. (Matt 5:16)

On this SerVacation, you will start the morning with a wonderful volunteer service opportunity, followed by a behind-the-scenes tour of the Tarpon Springs sponge docks and sponge exchange, an authentic Greek lunch, a sponge boat ride experience like no other, and as if that’s not enough, a coffee and pastry tasting!

Fred did a great job on our Miami- Ga Tech football trip. Everything was well planned and fun. We had problems getting through Atlanta airport TSA mess and arrived very late but Fred was kind enough to bring take out from the dinner to our hotel. We met a lot of great GT fans as well. Would definitely recommend

We thoroughly enjoyed our SerVacations "Behind the Scenes in Champa Bay" experience! It was incredible to be able to walk in the tunnels of Raymond James stadium and see areas the general public does not have access to! Seeing the Brig, a luxury sky box and even the USF locker rooms was great! We even got to walk through the Bucs tunnel onto the actual football field! Amazing! Having the actual architect of the Pirate ship as the facilitator to share actual stories about the construction of it made this so special! And, having one of the facilitators that was a part of one of the Bucs Super Bowl seasons was so cool, especially since he brought his Super Bowl ring and allowed participants to actually try it on! Awesome!! Ending the evening with the Tampa Tarpons game and dinner was just icing on the cake! We have been to games for years but never had experiences in these facilities like we did through our SerVacations experience! It is also not something we have found anywhere else in Tampa Bay! Thank you so much! We will be participating in future events for sure!!

We had a great time on this experience. Our tour guide Michael John was knowledgeable and entertaining. We learned a lot about the history of Tarpon Springs, the Greek American community, and the sponge diving industry. The food at Yianni’s Greek Restaurant was fantastic. Fred from SerVacations was very friendly as well. He took great care of us. We appreciated the details and communication. Thank you for a wonderful time!

What a great time my kids and I enjoyed at the incredibly diverse history and culture of Tarpon Springs! I cannot say enough how organized SerVacations was...and the fact that they do this service to provide for others is a double win. There wasn't a single part that lacked professionalism and service throughout the trip. The genuine tour guides, locals of the area, provided depth and context to the rich history of the sponge trade in the 20th century. As a parent, you cannot beat the educational fun that was had on this trip --- can't wait for the next one. Thanks Fred!

SerVacations, and its leaders, have a huge heart for serving others, and for helping families like ours use our vacation time for a lot more than we have in the past. We attended the Tarpon Springs tour and were very impressed with the overall approach of the organization, the casual professionalism, local knowledge, the fun activities, the behind-the-scenes feel, and all of the local the flavors that we were able to experience way better with the guided tour than if we had tried to figure out all of that stuff ourselves. That alone would make this partnership super valuable, but on top of that we saved money against what we would have spent without SerVacations leading the way. Awesome time. Recommend to all.
